Ozark National Life's Home Office
Ozark National Life Insurance Company's home office is located in the
historic Kansas City Public Library Building. The beautifully restored
Second Renaissance Revival architecture provides a unique working
environment as well as a show place for interested visitors. Opening its
doors in September, 1897, the library served the residents of Kansas City
for sixty-three years before moving to a new building in 1960. Besides
housing the library, the building was home to the Western Museum of Art
(which later became the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art) and the Kansas City
Board of Education. It was purchased by Ozark National Life in 1984 and
has housed its Home Office since 1985. The building is listed on both the
Missouri and National Historic Registers.
